CLIA Technical Consultant
Our Quality Team is looking for Technical Consultant to manage technical and quality operations for up to twenty of the Company's moderate complexity client laboratories located nationwide. Travel to client worksites to conduct mock inspections and be part of the team that contributes to general consulting efforts, identifies systemic issues, create effective workflows and implement process improvements to fulfill our mission of making quality laboratory testing more accessible.
Location & Travel Requirements
While this is a hybrid remote/travel position. Candidates located near Charlotte, NC are strongly preferred, as the role may require in-person work to our Charlotte headquarters (approximately once per week, depending on the inspection schedule). At a minimum, candidates must reside near a major U.S. airport and be willing to travel nationwide, including overnight stays, up to 30% of the time to conduct 2-3 inspections per month.
Qualifications / Requirements
- Associate’s degree in in medical laboratory technology, medical laboratory science, or clinical laboratory science; and 4 years of laboratory training or experience, or both, in nonwaived testing, in the designated specialty or subspecialty areas of Chemistry (routine, endocrinology) and adherence to clinical laboratory regulations.
- Bachelor's degree in a chemical, biological, clinical or medical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution; and 2 years of laboratory training or experience, or both, in nonwaived testing, in the designated specialty or subspecialty areas of Chemistry (routine, endocrinology) and adherence to clinical laboratory regulations.
- Experience in preparation and lead of laboratory accreditation (i.e. CLIA, COLA, CAP, and/or TJC) and licensing surveys/inspections.
- Minimum of 1 year of project management or account management experience, or equivalent experience required.
1. Serves as Technical Consultant for up to 20 of the Company’s client laboratories and fulfills all responsibilities provided by 42 C.F.R. § 493.1413, as well as requirements provided by state and local statutes and regulations, and requirements of accrediting organizations requiring oversight of the laboratory as Technical Consultant.
2. Travels to make in-person visits to client laboratories to lead surveys and inspections by licensing and accrediting bodies, and mock inspections to review quality records and procedures and implement any needed corrective actions.
3. Prepares client laboratories for surveys and inspections by regulatory or accrediting bodies.
4. Prepare and/or update Client Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
5. Executes pro-active, independent, strategic project management, planning, and organization.
6. Accepts and completes quality assurance (QA) /quality control (QC) projects and task management.
7. Completes documentation and record-keeping requirements and assignments.
8. Identifies areas for improvement and implements process improvement initiatives.
9. Promptly responds to communications from clients and helps to resolve issues and questions.
10. Focuses and supports team-oriented approach with high-level communication.
